Description:
These are yellow gram lentils also known as Bengal Gram. They resemble yellow lentils (arhar or toor dal) but are slightly bigger and coarser. They are stronger in taste than most other lentils and have a sweet aroma and flavor. Chana dal is also used to make payasam, a sweet dish made with jaggery, coconut milk, nuts and raisins.
