Story: Parshuram (Arun Mukherjee) is not his actual name. He is one of the crawling hundreds of thousands of migrants, who expelled of their land and finding no way of making a living in their own village, has drifted to the great city of Calcutta. He is somewhat of a simpleton, who claims to have killed a tiger with the axe which he carries all the time. In the city, he finds work as a domestic, but is unjustly accused of thieving money and drifts out into the street.
He discovers some kindred souls in a group of street dwellers. He discovers shelter in a dumped house in a graveyard and begins life again. His closeness with the street dwellers grows and they allow him as one of them. A girl Alhadi (Sreela Majumdar) appears in his life and if the survival is one of continuous struggle, there are moments when he dares to dream…
